VISUAL EFFECTS
In my third year at DJCAD (2019), I chose to take the 'Principles of Visual Effects' class for my third year expansive module, from a range of mostly art and design based modules.

This introduced me to Adobe After Effects and using techniques such as Camera Tracking, working with Planes and 3D objects, working with a greenscreen, and keyframe animation.

The outputs were two short clips that I created, and a presentation, explaining the process back to my tutors to show my understanding of the process.
Brief 1:
To insert a 3D model into a panning video scene.

I chose the video scene and 3D model from a selection of short video clips and models provided to the class.

The Process:

-
Tracking the camera and using tracking points to form a ground plane, origin point and a null point.

-
Using Element 3D to create a 3D placeholder object and linking it to the null point so it follows the movement of the video.

Brief 2:
To combine video filmed on a greenscreen background, with an adjustable 3D scene.

A panning video filmed by one of my classmates, of me pretending to run across a bridge but on a greenscreen.

The 3D model with bridge was from a selection provided to the class.

The Process:

-
Importing the greenscreen footage, using Roto Brush to select the figure throughout the footage.
